The Training Seminar in Erasmus+ Youth in Action “For successful group-EVS: how to support a good start”, organized by Villa Elba youth centre, took place in Kokkola, Finland, from 23. -28.11.2015.

18 participants from 7 countries (Bulgaria, Finland, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Turkey) took part in the activity. The training focused on the important elements for programming an on-arrival training, especially for group EVS projects including young people with fewer opportunities. The topic was approached through trainers’ inputs, exchange of experience of participants, practical workshops and discussions in the group. Reflection and feedback was done in feedback rounds, reflection groups and so called “spirit spots”. Also participants were asked to volunteers to report on (small) parts of the training, in terms of reflection. Towards the end of the training, participants applied the newly gathered knowledge to develop possible programme drafts for an on-arrival training together.

The participants established a facebook group to continue communication and networking after the training. They all got a youthpass certificate in the final evaluation round. One participant from Turkey was visually impaired.

This training course aimed to support organizations in their activities with short-term EVS projects, help to improve the quality of the on arrival trainings for group-EVS projects, offer participants new tools for their everyday work and offer a space for exchange of ideas and good practices.

Documentation: It was our intention to provide participants with a package of methods and tools at the end of the seminar – a collection of useful material, at the disposal of partners for running on-arrival training for group EVS projects, and especially with the target group of Rückenwind participants.

Profile of participants:All 18 participants were practitioners from the youth field, involved in EVS activities of their organisations (sending and hosting), interested in or already running group EVS projects with young people with fewer opportunities. All of the organisations have already been partners with Villa Elba, the training host organisation of the training.
